Amazing Occasion Dressing Trends in 2013

I remember when I was about 17 years old and I was going through my be different phase, which involved me being ever so slightly non conformist when it came to dressing for an occasion. I chose to wear ball gowns in the day and jeans and scruffy tops of an evening. Round about this time we had a family christening, and I arrived to the merriments in jeans and a hole ridden t-shirt, much to my mothers dismay, and she still talks about it today, how occasion dressing is the key to style, and me turning up in jeans and a worn out t-shirt just showed how little idea I in fact had. At the time I thought I looked effortlessly cool, but looking backmy mum might of had a slight point. I was dressed completely wrong for that particular occasion due to who was there and the venue we were in.

My style has evolved over the years for the better, hopefully. I still have the non conformist within, however I do tame the beast when attending someones wedding or a celebration of the birth of their first child! I now take in to account where it is that I am going, and who will be there.

Summer is all about occasion dressing, or dressing right for each event you are attending, and if like me, you dont like to wear the same thing twice then you really need to have a gander at Moonspark.

Moonspark stocks an array of dresses suitable for all summer happenings BBQs, walks in the park, festivals, picnics & partys.

A personal favorite of mine from the website is this stunningMina Lace Babydoll dress -79.99. The lace, leaf detailing is utterly stunning and the embroidered trim and baby-doll style gives this dress and incredibly feminine finish. I am attending a casual garden wedding in a few weeks, and thinking this dress may just be perfect for that occasion. I would accessorize this dress with a bright block colour shoe, maybe hot pink, turquoise or bright red? The same with the handbag, however I would clash the colour of the bag to the shoes. I would then add a head piece to this look and finish with a vintage cape. Alternatively you just just put some gladiator sandals to this look and it would become an utterly charming day dress.

4As autumn rolls around

As autumn rolls around, it can be easy to let all the colour, along with soon-to-be-forgotten shorts and vest tops, drain from your wardrobe. However, the new season doesnt have to mean discarding vibrancy in favour of dreariness. The Pantone Fashion Color Report Fall 2013 proves that autumn doesnt necessarily equate to browns, greys and blacks. When you think of this season, dont the transitional shades of green and the rich oranges and reds of the leaves come to mind? Reflect the stunning colours nature exhibits during autumn in your clothing for a look thats bang on trend. With a focus on the rich and more vibrant hues, you can ensure your outfits make a statement. Add at least a hint of bright colour into each outfit to avoid getting stuck in a grayscale cycle. Vivacious pink The deep fuchsia dubbed Vivacious is sure to get heads turning, and ensure your look is anything but boring in the coming season. It can be hard to wear on large pieces, but can easily be injected into your wardrobe. Look for this colour splashed across high heels to glam up a little black dress in the evening, pairing with a lipstick in the same hue. In the day, it looks great across a hat, gloves and scarf set C those in cashmere are a particularly good buy. You can look at a variety of high heels at Spy Love Buy. You can find more tips for wearing bold hues in your outfits here, and discover how to introduce colour pops, which accentuate your best features. Dont be afraid of trying out something new C a fresh look could be just what you need to get out of a style rut. Dark orange and rich purple Pantone has picked out a specific shade named Koi, but integrating any dark orange hues into your wardrobe this autumn is a great way to stay on trend. Sheer materials look amazing in this colour, so look out for blouses and skirts in this style for a huge fashion boost. It also colour blocks well with Acai, a rich purple, to create a retro feel. You can also wear this combination by dressing in one shade and accessorising with the other, so look out for statement pieces of jewellery, shoes and bags. A spectrum of greens Greens feature prominently in the autumn fashion colour palette, with major influences from the great outdoors. The top pick for eveningwear is Carafe, a glamorous green-brown mix that will look amazing on a dress worn with gold jewellery. At the other end of the scale is the yellow-toned Linden Green, a brighter option that will work well in the day. Spy Love Buy has fantastic wellington boots in this shade, which will be perfect for negotiating puddles and mud when youre outside this autumn. ؼ

Top 5 Tips for Travelling with Kids

Top 5 Tips for Travelling with Kids

Summer is almost upon us, school will soon be out and families are looking forward to spending some quality time in the sun together away from home. Whether you are travelling with one tiny tot or a brood of tweens and teens, there are a number of ways to cut the stress of jetting off abroad with your bairns.

1. Dont blow your budget before you go. While it can be tempting to buy your children an expensive new wardrobe for your getaway, remember that you are only travelling for a week or two at the most. Pick up low cost swimming trunks?and holiday clothes, and save your spends for fun-filled excursions while you are away. The smiles on their faces will be the best thing they can wear, anyway.

2. Make time for the simple things. Children are often happy left to their own devices jumping in and out of the pools and making the most of what is on offer at your accommodation. Pack a few pairs of low cost swimming trunks and costumes?from George at ASDA?to be sure that you are always equipped for a spontaneous splash in the pool. Dont forget the water wings and inflatables!

3. Dont let the journey drag. Whether you are flying as far as Mexico, or heading over the pond to Spain, children generally find travelling quite boring. As the initial airport excitement fades, be sure you have packed plenty of bits and pieces to keep them entertained along the way. Use their cabin luggage allowance for age-appropriate activities. Generally, comics, colouring books and sticker activities are a hit, however older children may appreciate portable games consoles and music players. Travel games are also fantastic for family fun.

4. Take plenty of sun protection with you. Although you will be able to buy sun creams and lotions while you are away, it is important that you pick a high factor ointment that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Reading what a product has to offer while you are at home is much wiser than picking up whatever your hotel offers during your time abroad. It is also recommended that children are kept out of the sun during the midday heats, when its rays are at their strongest. Take protective swimwear and sunhats too.

5. Dont skip on the important stuff. Travelling without insurance is very risky and can put your family in danger should the worst happen. If you are venturing within the EU, dont forget to apply online for the EHIC card which will give all members of your family access to healthcare while youre away if they fall ill or have an accident. While safety is paramount, it is also worth totting up your budget and looking into all inclusive breaks, which guarantee three full meals, snacks and drinks a day for your entire clan, insurance against an empty tummy never goes amiss.

All ready to go? Get ready for some fun in the sun C start by popping over to George and picking up those swimming trunks, youre going to need them!

Tips for choosing wedding dresses

Tips for choosing wedding dresses

July 6, 2013 – 11:07 am |

Arguably one of the most exciting parts of planning a wedding is picking out the dress you’ll wear on your big day. But with so many styles and designers to choose from, where do you start? Here are some tips to consider, taking into consideration style, body shape, and other factors.

How formal do you want to go?

Believe it or not, you can adapt a number of different gown styles to a formal wedding, and the same goes for a more casual setting; sometimes it’s the fabric used or another similar detail that’s more important than the gown shape! As a rule, if you’re wearing anything with a very long train, lots of exquisite beading, a very dressy shape like a mermaid silhouette, or something made of a very luxe fabric like silk, the feeling will be more formal. Some styles, like a classic A-line, can be made more informal with fabrics like eyelet lace. And if you’re wearing a cocktail-length dress, it will feel better suited to a more relaxed wedding atmosphere (like a garden wedding) than a black-tie cathedral setting.

To white or not to white?

Blinding snow white might be the prevailing trend, but it’s not necessarily the most flattering. Try on different shades of white in different types of lighting to see whether you would look better in bright white, linen, or even an ivory or ecru shade. If you’re thinking of plunging in with a colored gown, ask yourself: will I still love this decision in forty years? If the answer is “maybe not”, you might be better off with a colorful accessory, like shoes or a ribbon sash.

What accessories will you choose?

Some brides like to be blinged out, while others prefer a simpler look. If your gown is very ornate, you won’t want to pile on gems and an elaborate veil, which will just distract from it. But if you’re wearing a very simple gown, you can add touches like a vintage tiara, colorful wedding shoes, or a wide ribbon sash. A gown supplier like JJs House will feature a variety of gown styles and accessories to choose from, so bookmark your favorites and then compare them later on.

What’s your body type?

How you feel when you look in the mirror is the most important thing, but there are a few body guidelines to consider. Strapless gowns flatter almost all women, but if you’re broader it’s important to look for a sweetheart neckline to avoid adding width. Big-busted women should be sure to choose a style that will allow for a supportive bra, while smaller-chested women should be careful of anything pre-molded that won’t adjust in the bust.

If you want more coverage up top, sheer lace sleeves, off-the-shoulder styles or even a fancy shrug are good options that won’t look frumpy. Ball gowns, A-line styles, and corseted gowns are flattering on almost all body types, but petite women should be careful of overly voluminous ball gowns, which can appear overwhelming on a small frame. If you’re pear-shaped, be careful of shapeless sheaths.

What will be the wedding venue?

Whether your wedding will be outside or inside is important, but if you’ll be going straight from the wedding to a packed reception, it’s also important to think about whether you’ll still be in your gown at the party. Will you select a second, simpler dress that will allow you to eat and dance—and if so, will you have a changing room available so you can switch dresses before the reception?

All of these tips can help guide you through the sea of dresses to narrow down your search to a few potential winners. Once you’ve settled on a series of designs that you really like, you’re ready to try on those dresses to find “the one”, so you can look as beautiful as you feel on your special day.
